Privacy Policy

Stellune is a puzzle game for iPhone, Android and the web, made by Shakeel Abbas (QuizRift), 508 Woodchase St, Kanata, Ontario K2W 1J4, Canada. This policy says what the game collects, why, who handles it, how long it is kept, and how you can change your mind. Questions: dev@quizrift.com.

In short

  • There are no accounts, and you can play without sharing anything. Your progress is saved on your device.
  • Crash reports and play statistics are sent only if you say yes. The game asks once, after your third star. You can change either answer at any time in Settings → Privacy.
  • Ads appear only if you ask for a video to earn hints. Before the first one, you are asked for your consent where the law requires it, and on iPhone Apple asks whether the game may track you.
  • We never sell your data, and nothing is shared for anyone else's marketing.
  • The web version has no ads, no crash reports and no statistics.

What stays on your device

The game keeps your progress on your device: the stars you lit, your nights and streak, your mascot's wardrobe, your hints, your settings and your privacy answers. It is not sent anywhere. Deleting the app, or the site's data in your browser, deletes it.

The game reads your device's motion sensors to tilt the night sky and for some puzzles. These readings never leave your device. When you save a picture of your constellation, it goes to your photos or your device's share sheet, and nowhere else.

If you turn on the evening reminder (iPhone and Android), it is set on your device, with your device's own notifications: the game writes it and your device shows it, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Your device asks your permission first. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Tonight's Star, or in your device's settings.

Crash reports (iPhone and Android, only if you say yes)

What: when the game crashes, a report with the error, your device model, operating system and app version, your language and graphics setting, the screen you were on, and the puzzle you were playing. It also carries a random installation number, but never your name, your email or an account.

Why: to find and fix what went wrong.

Who: Google, through Firebase Crashlytics, which works for us.

How long: 90 days.

Play statistics (iPhone and Android, only if you say yes)

What: events such as a puzzle started, solved (with the time taken, the moves and the hints used) or left; a region unlocked; a night completed; a streak ended; a purchase; and a video watched for hints. Alongside them, a random app-instance number, your device model, operating system, app version, and the country or region your connection comes from. Never your name, your email, an account or your advertising ID.

Why: to see which puzzles are too hard or too easy, and to improve the game.

Who: Google, through Google Analytics for Firebase, which works for us. Ad personalization and Google signals are switched off.

How long: 2 months for event data.

Videos for hints (iPhone and Android, only if you ask for one)

When you choose to watch a short video for more hints, the video is an ad shown by Google AdMob. To show it, Google receives your device's advertising ID, your IP address (from which it can estimate your general location), information about your device, and how the ad was viewed. Ads are personalized only if you allow it:

  • through Google's consent form, which appears where the law requires it;
  • on iPhone, through Apple's tracking question.

You can change your ad choices at any time in Settings → Privacy → Ad choices (where it applies). You can also reset or limit your advertising ID in your device's settings. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

If you never ask for a video, the ads service never starts.

Purchases (iPhone and Android)

Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play, which handle your payment. We never see your payment details. The game receives the store's confirmation of what you bought, so it can unlock it and restore it later. That confirmation stays on your device.

The website

When you visit stellune.quizrift.com or play the web version, our host, Cloudflare, keeps technical logs (your IP address, browser and the pages requested) to serve and protect the site. Cloudflare keeps these logs for its standard period. The web version stores your progress in your browser's storage. The game sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ads.

Where your data is processed

Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. Transfers from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

The legal basis (EEA and UK)

  • crash reports, play statistics and personalized ads: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time;
  • purchases: providing what you bought;
  • the website's logs: our legitimate interest in running a secure site.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • turn crash reports and statistics on or off in Settings → Privacy;
  • turn the evening reminder on or off in Settings → Tonight's Star;
  • change your ad choices (Settings → Privacy → Ad choices, where it applies).

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, or to object to its use. Write to dev@quizrift.com. The game has no accounts: crash reports and statistics carry none, so we cannot link them to you. They expire as described above. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Stellune is for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. The game has no accounts and never asks for a name or an email address.

Security

Everything the game sends travels encrypted (HTTPS). Your progress never leaves your device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new date. If a change affects what we collect, the game will tell you before it applies.
